Becky Barton Goad, age 60 of the Hanestown Community in Macon County, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Macon County General Hospital following her battle with cancer.  Funeral services for Becky Goad were conducted on Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home, with Elder Eddie Gregory and Elder Eric Phillips officiating. Terry Driver, Jeff Blackwell, Randy Carter, Tim Wilson, Jonathan McGuffey, and Tommy Harrison served as Pallbearers.  Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.
Rebecca Sue Barton was born on May 7, 1952 in Macon County, Tennessee to Ruth Deborah McDonald Barton and the late Gilbert Shade Barton.  She was one of three children born to this union.  Besides her father; brother, Randle Barton also preceded Becky in death.
When Becky and her sister were growing up, their mom kept a little girl name Regina Sloan.  Regina became the third daughter of the family. Becky’s dad even nicknamed her “Pete”.  She came to all family gatherings and still does today.
On June 9, 1972, Becky was married to the love of her life, Jimmy Goad.
Becky and Jimmy made a home and started a family, raising two sons and one daughter.
Becky started out working as a hairdresser here in Lafayette for twenty-seven years. She retired in 1998 to stay home with her son, Nickey.  Becky and Jimmy started Goad’s Chuckwagon; she truly enjoyed serving the public and socializing.  Everyone enjoyed going where Goad’s Chuckwagon was set-up to eat some of the best steak sandwiches and Becky’s famous hot fudge cakes.  Becky was able to work and care for Nickey, with their Vending Company.  Becky and Jimmy shared almost forty years together, but the last fourteen years they had worked side by side.
Becky’s life revolved around her family. The true love and commitment of a wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter was certainly shown in Becky’s action.
She enjoyed going camping with her family and friends.  Becky went camping just a few weeks ago and had made the remark about “How alive it made her feel”.
Becky loved playing the piano and had played for the group “Homeward Bound”.  In her spare time, Becky also enjoyed sitting back and reading a good book.
She was saved and a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Becky has finished her labors down here on Earth and is now in Heaven. The family and her many friends will miss Becky down here, but our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Becky is survived by; Husband, Jimmy Goad, Sons, Nickey Goad and Randy Goad all of the Hanestown Community in Macon County, TN, Daughter, Beth Goad, Grandson, Blake Butcher both of the Maple Grove Community in Macon County, TN, Mother,Ruth McDonald Barton of Lafayette, TN, Sister, Rachel (Ralph) Knight of Lafayette, TN.
