CHARLES E. NASH, better known as â€śShortyâ€ť, age 81 of Lafayette, passed away late on July 4th, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services for Charles â€śShortyâ€ť Nash were conducted Saturday, July 7, at 11 am from the Alexander Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers were, Danny Nash, Scott Nash, Jr., Roger Tuck, Wayne Tuck, Jackie Nash, and Calvin Nash. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery.
He was born to the late Arthur Nash and Virgie Dallas Nash on March 26, 1931. Shorty was one of five siblings born to this union.
Besides his parents; brothers, Donel Nash, and Freedom Nash, and sister, Velvie Tuck also preceded Shorty in death.
He was previously married and has two sons and one daughter, Edward, Scott, and Starla. Shorty was always ready to spend time with his children and grandchildren that he loved.
Shorty worked on the assembly line for Arvinâ€™s Automotive Company in Franklin, Indian for twenty-two years. He had to retire in 1976 after having a disabling stroke.
Shorty later returned to the Galen Community in Macon County where he grew up. When Shortyâ€™s health allowed, he enjoyed raising tobacco and farming with his sons.
Music always played a big part in Shortyâ€™s life. Even as a young man, Shorty always had a guitar close by. Shorty, his family, and friends were always taking time to gather around and play a tune.
He also had a great interest in guns and knives.
Shorty was raised in the Missionary Baptist Belief.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Shorty is survived by; Sons, Edward Nash, and Scott Nash, Sr. and wife Sondra, Daughter, Starla Nash Willis, Grandchildren, Scott Nash, Jr. and wife Natalie, Sarah Nash, and Ashley Willis all of Lafayette, TN, and Brother, Jack Nash of Red Boiling Springs, TN.
